My research focuses on understanding patterns of microbial diversity in different habitats such as the phyllosphere of forest trees, soils, and groundwater, and how these habitats are connected via transport of microorganisms. In addition, I am interested in nitrogen transformation processes in these habitats and in the environmental factors that shape the N cycling microbial communities.
