Dr. Karel Castro Morales, Principal Investigator
I am an oceanographer passionate about the impact of climate change in natural biogeochemical cycles in the different spheres of our planet. I investigate the flux of the climate-relevant gases oxygen, carbon dioxide and methane between land, atmosphere and aquatic interfaces with the use of measurements and numerical models across different temporal and spatial scales. I aim to understand the changes and consequences in the flux of these gases under the influence of current environmental changes like a warmer atmosphere and permafrost degradation in the Arctic.
